Biman Bihari Das

Biman Bihari Das, a celebrated Indian sculptor and former Principal of the Government College of Art & Craft, Kolkata, is a prominent figure in the field of Fine Arts. Recognized for his contributions, he was honoured with the prestigious Padma Shri award by the Government of India in 2014. Das, born on January 1, 1943, in Tamluk, West Bengal, completed his art education at the Government College of Art & Craft, Kolkata, excelling in modelling and sculpture. He further enriched his artistic journey through a Fulbright Fellowship in the US and a UGC grant in Budapest under the Indo-Hungarian cultural exchange program. Having held leadership positions, including Principal of the College of Art, Delhi, and Vice President of the All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society, Das continues to actively engage with the Indian art scene, leaving an indelible mark.
